Exciting about the WFW fashion show? Let’s take a sneak peek on our MA Fashion Design students’ work

The WFW fashion show is near, right at the door, before we got more excited about the catwalk, having a look at our MA student’s work and the story behind their design will sure give us another angle and idea during the show.

Karen Yu

Karen is from Nanjing, China, her undergraduate, was fashion design at SHIJIAN University in Taiwan. Until now, she has been studying fashion design for five years and gained real industry experience during her works in women’s wear brand. To her, her favorite part of being a fashion designer is that she gets to challenge different theme, it gives her the chance to discover more about the history of the subject and learn from it during her research, “it never gets bored” said by Karen. For this show, as the theme is “sustainability”, Karen got her idea from the monk in Tibet, she loves how monk in Tibet can use one fabric to cover their body and looks nice. Moreover, as for bringing sustainable this theme to her garment, she collects those remnant fabrics to turn them into flowers to add on to her dress, she got this inspiration from using a flower as a symbol to Buddhism, like the lotus.

Stella & Susu

Stella and Susu are both our MA fashion design student, they have also been studying fashion design since their undergraduate and gained solid knowledge and working experiences in the fashion design industry. To them, the best part of being a fashion designer allows them to design what they like and share their specific view and understanding about fashion to the world, “I would like people to know me through my design work, as I express myself, my feeling through my design,” said by Susu. Stella’s dress idea comes from water flow and streamlines architecture, which made the silhouette quite fluent, rounded and oversized. As for Susu, her inspiration is from the ocean wave and shopping bag; she shares the idea of a zero waste blogger.

To all of our MA fashion design students, we wish them success, and we hope it will raise people’s attention to sustainability.
